The French-Algerian driver Julien Gerbi took part yesterday to an Italian GT Championship private testing session, on the track of Adria.

At the wheel of “BE-COM-E Nova Race”‘s Ginetta G50, the 26 years-old has covered 150 kms of the Adriatic track in difficult conditions. After the North-East region of Italy has been hit by a strong storm, Gerbi took the track in order to get used to this 360 hp GT.

On a drying track, the French-Algerian driver has quickly set similar laptimes to the usual Italian GT4 front-runners.

“My debut day with a GT car went well” declared Gerbi “It took me a few laps to get used to the car, then I have been able to work more seriously. The driving of this GT is radically different from what I know. For an open-wheels driver, the adaptation to Grand Tourisme cars requires some time, but I am pleased to have been able to set competitive times from the beginning of the day. I want to thank Tiziano Frazza and all the “BE-COM-E Nova Race” team for offering me this opportunity.”

Julien is currently in discussion with the team in order to participate to the 2012 championship, and this test could lead to others. Regarding “BE-COM-E Nova Race”, its current official drivers Tiziano Frazza and Matteo Cressoni will contest the last round of the Italian GT4 Championship next week-end at Monza with the aim to win the national title.
